As we walked our bikes up a long and winding path in the Black Forest near Freudenstadt, it felt like we were walking in Wonderland. Sunrise appears dramatically in the valleys as she cuts her way over the mountain tops. Her light would reveal itself in fantastic new expressions as perfectly directed sunbeams cut patterns through the early morning mist. A droplet on the end of a fern frond would seem blue at a distance then flash out green, yellow and gold as we stepped nearer. Everything felt alive and sparking.
If you have ever experienced total silence, you'll know how the senses become amplified in that moment of wonder - a squirrel darting up a tree...a finch careering noiselessly between the trunks...everything quiet...yet so wildly alive...we whisper to each other with no idea why..."did you see that?" "Why are we whispering?" "I don't know but it feels right!"
Quietly we stepped to the side...a different angle on the light...she was playing with us but she seemed happy with our move because she gifted us a most spectacular moment of her extraordinary rays...we looked at each other...was it really all for us...why...the most beautiful gift we ever touched...and couldn't hold. Perfection.
