on the day before Oma died
we had a party
eleven people and a baby came
we ate and drank joyously
there was plenty of beer
to go around
Katy screamed as she made a final
on the table tennis court
and then we ate vanilla magnums
in our lounge-room
where Great-Oma years before
put a hole in the ceiling
with a cork
On the night before Oma died
I was drunk
I don't remember going to bed
but I do remember
trying to read our guests
some of my book
and Sandra begged me to stop
because it was rude
our last three guests left laughing
Ann-Kathrin, Sebastian & Felix
at 7am the doorbell rang
Susanne & Klaus
"Luke, Oma died this morning"
